Virginia hospital system tackles A/R through registration quality using AHIQA

The leader in on-demand Patient Access Management solutions

Leading the industry with innovative design and theories AHI Software is one of the first companies to bring the Health Care Industry a system to automate their QA process. Our focus is to provide hospitals with the tools to achieve increased revenue and top customer satisfaction.

AHI began development of our flagship product AHIQA in 2002. AHI was a leading consulting company with vast experience in the revenue cycle over the past 20 years.

AHI recognized that data entered at registration affects every step of the downstream revenue cycle. By not checking for quality at the point of registration, incorrect data often slides past billing and is ultimately rejected by the insurance payer. Cash flow is then slowed down and A/R days increase.  In order to accelerate cash flow, AHI began implementing a manual “Quality Assurance” process in all their hospitals. . While the manual process did improve the revenue cycle, it was time consuming and added additional staff expense.

Without hesitation AHI partnered with NSG Inc., a software development company, in 2002 to automate their manual QA process. NSG quickly began development of the new product. By early 2003 AHI and NSG released the first version of the AHIQA, a Windows based program. Working together NSG & AHI spun off into a new corporation focusing entirely on software to benefit the Healthcare Industry.

After installing the Windows based software in a live environment at a half-dozen hospitals, AHI decided to launch an on-demand web based service which quickly superseded the original model.

In late 2004 all of our clients were converted to the off-site web based service or ASP batch model which abolished licensing fees. With this new web-based version, hospitals no longer were required to purchase a server for the AHIQA software. This dramatically reduced the upfront costs and IS department resources required. By moving to the web based batch system we could provide quicker and better support to all of our clients.

To satisfy the demands of the industry and offer a more robust service, AHIQA took the next step and introduced a real-time version of the system released to the healthcare industry in August 2005. This system was developed to provide increased options to both current and future clients. With the real-time version hospitals no longer require employees to QA accounts. Individual registrars can QA their own errors with immediate feed back from a real time pop-up at the end of registration making it possible to self correct their errors.

As AHI’s history shows, it is committed to constantly improving and growing our services. With the on-demand model all upgrades and updates are included across the board at no charge for all of our clients. This allows our system to continuously grow with the needs of the Health Care Market.

We pride ourselves on our commitment to creating state-of-the-art user friendly software on the forefront of technology; that translates to revenue cycle success for our clients.
